New Whimsy

Savvy loves happening upon that one-of-a-kind item, whether it be a pair of earrings evoking the jazz age or an adorable dishware set worthy of a 1950s-style dinner party. But she had no idea how many treasures she’d discover at Wishbone Reserve, a collaboration between two best friends: Julie Lilienfeld, who grew up in the auctioneering business and worked for jewelry designer Betty Cooke, and Athena Hoffberger, a former interior designer and personal organizer. Housed in a 3,600-square-foot former dry cleaner on Falls Road, the retro wonderland feels part boutique/part museum, with quirky finds like a wall-size poster of Steven Seagal, an authentic carnival spin wheel and an entire bureau filled with vintage ladies undergarments—yes, drawers of drawers!—paired with consignment furniture and other fineries. Stay tuned for the delightful duo to host classes with local artisans and cocktail parties soon. 5730 Falls Road. 443-961-3376, wishbonereserve.com

Curves Ahead

Fed up with limited, boring and poorly constructed clothing when shopping as a plus-size woman, Maryland native Dr. Nkem Olanrewaju took matters into her own hands. Partnering with designer Ella Pritsker of Ella Moda, she launched Chic at Heart, a luxury plus-size label, last summer. Currently available exclusively via the brand website, every garment is hand-sewn in Pritsker’s couturier studio in Lutherville—though they made it all the way to New York Fashion Week for “Plus Night Out” last year. Look for classic, day-to-evening attire—from peplum tops to pencil skirts—in movable fabrics that complement a woman’s curves in sizes 1X to 3X. Prices range from $150 to $300. chicatheart.com

Follow That Bus

Have you seen a black-and-white 1972 VW bus whizzing around town? Well, it’s taking people to Hotel RL, the trendy new offshoot of the Red Lion brand. The 130-room hotel is certain to woo millennials (and “cool kids” of any age) with its sleek design and high-tech vibe (think: denim-clad staff who register guests via iPad). Plus, there’s a Victrola Coffee shop and The Living Stage, an entertainment venue where local artists and musicians showcase their talents. Coming up: an open mic night with poet Nova Grey (Oct. 6) and talk on authenticity by CreativeMornings host Katie Boyts (Oct. 14). Suddenly, Savvy is seriously craving a staycation. Rates, $129-$229. 207 E. Redwood St., 410-685-2381. redlion.com

Girl Power

Think sports are just about competition? You’re missing the point, according to Ivivva, an active wear line that aims to inspire tweens through movement, healthy experiences and positive marketing messages. An offshoot of the beloved Lululemon brand, this little sister is officially setting up shop in Towson Town Center this month. To celebrate, Bridget Quinn Stickline (owner of Wee Chic in Green Spring Station) and Cool Progeny blogger Heather Weisse Walsh partnered with Ivivva to produce “The Many Sides of Me,” a fashion campaign that shows girls don’t have to choose between being beautiful (inside and out) or sporty. Savvy can’t wait to pick up a pair of Ivivva rhythmic yoga pants and matching tank for her oh-so-stylish and spunky niece. 825 Dulaney Valley Road. ivivva.com
