It seems like overnight, Harbor East has evolved into a major fashion destination—for women at least. Beloved South Moon Under’s men’s department has been the first and the last stop for Savvy’s male counterpart. Fashion plates, fret no longer. Later this month, the revered men’s haberdasher Brooks Brothers is setting up shop. In just over 5,000 square feet, the new spot will boast the entire collection, including the new Zac Posen women’s wear line. savvy was floored to learn that the first-ever American outpost for Sandro Ferrone has washed up on our shores. Standing across from Zara in the Annapolis Mall—with clean white walls and artful displays—the Italian fast fashion women’s line has arrived. Ferrone is known for bold primary colors and vibrant florals—and a wallet-friendly cost. Unlike, say, Ann Taylor or Michael Kors, it’s not unusual to find Sandro, the brand’s brilliant namesake, bopping around the aisles. Annapolis’ Ferrone franchisee, Paula McLoud, secured the exclusive deal through a longtime family friend. McLoud kept in touch with her Italian exchange student whose family happens to be in the fashion business. Historic Ellicott City’s Main Street boasts so many fun and fabulous shops, eateries and sites. One of the newer kids on the block, longtime Sykesville Savvy favorite, A La Mode, expanded into this new location only last fall. The saucy women’s wear boutique is owned by a husband-and-wife team—and the seeds they’ve planted in the quaint shopping district are in full bloom now. The Ellicott City spot may be smaller but stocks all the latest handbags and handcrafted jewelry. In Columbia, and now Hampden, don’t overlook the most adorable shop for kids and parents. Greenberries, one genius mom’s 2008 recession-era brainchild, is a consignment shop offering high-end-but-affordable kiddie clothes and baby supplies. Find maternity wear, strollers, new toys, books, games and handmade gifts. Following customer feedback, founder Rachel Balif started offering cloth diapers, a major addition to her business. “The woman who suggested the diapers offered to show mothers how to use them,” says Balif.
