GUILTLESS GOODIES

Sweetgreen’s healthful bowls.

If you’re not a health food fanatic, salads can sound boring. But what about a salad of butternut squash, apples, blue cheese, raisins and walnuts? Easy to come by at Sweetgreen.

You’ve probably heard of the popular D.C.-based chain that sources all of its food locally and regionally and makes sustainability one of its core values. It made its way to Baltimore in November with its Harbor East location, but its annual music festival, sweetlife, has been playing at Merriweather Post Pavilion for the past few years—the event attracts thousands for the (rare) combination of good music and good, healthy food. One of the main fixtures for both its winter and spring menus will be steelhead, a salmon-like trout sustainably farmed that Sweetgreen has introduced to its customers just this year. And Baltimore does love its seafood. Sometimes, maybe it really is easy being green.
