Warby Parker Harbor East Rendering (1)

Behold, the biggest name in eyewear Warby Parker, which moved into Harbor East snug between Brooks Brothers and Sassanova, is finally open. The optical online retailer is known for its signature affordable yet trendy eyewear. The brand, which was sold exclusively online until 2013, offers prescription glasses frames (or non-prescription, for all the hipsters out there), as well as sunglasses. Inside, shelves—filled with unisex frames—line the walls and the shop has the feel of a 1960s mod-style library, complete with reference desk and books. There’s even a book display proudly showcasing authors like Zadie Smith.

“We’re incredibly excited to be opening our doors in a city with so much historical heft and literary history,” co-founder Neil Blumethal says. “We look forward to exploring the town’s landmarks, reading Baltimore authors, getting to know our future neighbors and increasing our company-wide crab consumption by at least 500 percent.”

Each location has custom art; Baltimore’s includes a Warby-ified Inner Harbor scene by the award-winning illustrator and animator Otto Steinberger. An optometrist is slated to start this June, making this location a one-stop shop. You can order frames in-house and expect them in the mail (or at the store if you choose in-store pick up) within seven to 10 days. While officially open to the public Wednesday, Warby’s grand opening will be later this month on April 30. Woodberry Kitchen and Artifact Coffee have both signed on to provide donuts and coffee for the event. And all of this in time for the See Summer Better sunglasses collection that just rolled out including the Jackson frames with a blue tinted lens, a Harbor East exclusive.
