Sunset Thrill Make the most of the last days of summer at Canton's DockBar.

Like a hoarder of a gift bottle of Chablis or a fine dining certificate, we’ve held close our knowledge of Canton’s DockBar—the newly refurbished outdoor area at The Boathouse—until just the right time. We’ll choose a warm evening in September, when the breeze off the water justifies toting a cardigan, maybe meet some friends who motor up on the water side (boat parking is $15 per hour), order some oysters—the usual suspects, local Choptank sweets and skinny dippers, the salty, sharp ones from Prince Edward Island. We’ll do cocktails: an orange or grapefruit crush, reminiscent of summer, or something with bourbon if there’s a chill in the air. The adjacent smoke shack is pumping out pulled pork and pit beef, and the fish tacos are tangy with pineapple, lime and cilantro. DockBar is a seasonal treat and will close once the weather turns (though will definitely be open for a Bull & Oyster Roast on September 25).
