Baseball season may be over, but hot dog season never ends. (At least in our eyes.) Ahead, check out five recipes for cool, creative dogs.

Hot (Dog) Tip: All will work with any hot dog or sausage. We recommend Hofmann Brands’ Natural Casing German Frank, Natural Casing Snappy or Skinless All Beef variations.

  • Bun
  • Hofmann Hot Dog
  • Homemade Chipotle Ranch Mix
  • 2 cups Hidden Valley Original Ranch Dressing
  • ¼ cup San Marcos Canned Pepper Chipotle
  • Lemon Juice
  • Onion, Bell Pepper Mix
  • Jumbo Yellow Onion
  • Red Bell Pepper
  • Green Bell Pepper
  • Fajita Seasoning Mix

Homemade Chipotle Ranch Mix Instructions:

Finely mince the canned chipotle pepper, making sure to transfer the adobo sauce the pepper was packed in with it.  Combine in a large mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly.

Onion and Bell Pepper Mix Instructions:

¼ slice onions, red and green bell peppers.  Sautee in large skillet until just limp, add fajita seasoning and transfer to container.

Finish by squeezing chipotle ranch end to end, tong mixed sautéed peppers/onions end to end.

  • Bun
  • Hofmann Hot Dog
  • Shredded Swiss cheese
  • Russian or 1000 Island dressing
  • Fresh sauerkraut
  • Bacon

Instructions:

  • Cook bacon per package instructions and chop
  • Warm the sauerkraut in a small saucepan
  • Layer Swiss cheese and Russian dressing end to end top with sauerkraut and chopped bacon

  • Bun
  • Hofmann Hot Dog
  • Favorite chili—homemade or store bought
  • Shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions:

Spread chili end to end. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.

Maryland Dog

  • Bun
  • Hofmann Hot Dog
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Hofmann German Style mustard
  • 1 tablespoon minced white onion
  • 1 tablespoon minced parsley
  • 1 tablespoon minced capers
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp of Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Yellow Onion
  • Kosher Salt
  • Chopped sweet jalapeno flavored pickles (optional)
  • Flour mix
    • 2 ½ lb AP flour
    • 2 tbsp cup chili powder
    • 1 tbsp kosher salt
    • ½ tbsp cayenne pepper

 

Flour Mix Instructions:

Mix the AP flour, chili powder, kosher salt and cayenne pepper and set aside.

Onion Straw Instructions:

Thinly sliced yellow onions (about 1/8 slice). Toss onions in dry flour mixture, use shaker basket to remove excess flour mixture. Fry at 350 degrees for 2 minutes or until golden brown. Toss with 1 tbsp Old Bay Seasoning and kosher salt to taste.

Remoulade Instructions:

Mix together mayonnaise, Hofmann German Style mustard, white onion, minced parsley, minced capers, fresh lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, Worcestershire sauce and black pepper. Refrigerate overnight for best quality.

  • Bun
  • Hofmann Hot Dog
  • 2 oz Asian Slaw (below tops 6-8 hot dogs)
    • 1 lb Cabbage
    • 1 ½ tbsp Cilantro
    • ¼ cup Sesame Oil
    • 1 tsp Thai Fish Sauce
    • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
    • 1 tsp Coarse Kosher Salt
    • 2 tbsp Oelek Chili Sauce
    • 1/3 cup Sweet Chili Sauce
    • 2 oz Sweet Chili Sauce

Asian Slaw Instructions:

  • Mix together Cabbage, Cilantro, Sesame Oil, Thai Fish Sauce, 2 tbsp Lemon Juice, Kosher Salt, Oelek Chili Sauce, Sweet Chili Sauce and let marinate. Top Hofmann German Brand Frank with Asian Slaw.
