“One day, true story, a friend of mine came into my home on a Sunday for Sunday dinner, and he said, ‘It smells like a WiseGuy’s kitchen in here!’ says comedian and chef Vincent Fiore. “And I said, ‘That’s what I want to do!’”

Thus WiseGuy Kitchen was born. Founded in 2015, the cooking and comedy show puts on about a dozen shows a month and  is a four-time Telly Award Winner and three-time Taste Award Finalist—and now, it’s coming to Baltimore.

So what exactly is WiseGuy?

“We’re a comedy with music with live cooking on stage—the Sopranos meet the Food Network,” says Fiore. “I like to call it ‘Eatertainment.'”

The show follows a basic storyline with some improvisation and features musical performances of songs by everyone from Elvis and Frank Sinatra to Lady Gaga. And in Baltimore, the typical WiseGuy performance will go a step further: a cookoff with Germano Fabiani, the eponymous chef of Germano’s Piattini.

Cyd Wolf, co-owner of Germano’s,  is looking forward to the unique performance.

“The audience is part of the action,” she says. “It’s kind of like Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding. We thought we should amp up our entertainment options and see if this is something Baltimoreans want more of.”

And Fiore? He just wants everyone to have a good time.

“I hope that we leave people with a night of a lot of fun and some good memories,” he says. “As an Italian-American, [I know] people have a stereotype of the mob and Wiseguys, and we’re showing a different light to that. Food brings people together.”

The cookoff will broadcast on PBS later this summer. To see the show, get your tickets here.

March 24 & 25 at 6:30pm at Germano’s Piattini. Tickets $67.
