Linda Lavin—an accomplished triple-threat actress in film, television (who, over 35, can forget “Alice”?) and theater—returns to the stage in the world premiere of the dramedy, “Our Mother’s Brief Affair,” by Richard Greenberg. Opening on Broadway later this month at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, “Our Mother” is the story of Anna (Lavin), a woman who makes a dark confession to her adult children on her deathbed, then attempts to die with as much dignity as she can manage. Anna’s children are left to grapple with what they once knew and what they now understand. Runs from Jan. 20 through March 6. manhattantheatreclub.com
