Drive it Down(Town)

It’s no secret that public transportation in and around Baltimore City could be better—but unfortunately, the odds of improvement happening anytime soon aren’t great.

Ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft have made things a bit better, but getting around the city for a full day is still no easy feat. Enter Maven City,  a General Motors-backed car-sharing program launching in Baltimore today. With the new service, you can reserve and use cars as often as you like with nothing but an hourly fee (starting at around $8—not too shabby). It’s sort of like ZipCar, but without a monthly membership and a bit cheaper.

To try it, download the app, reserve the car and go pick it up at one of the 20 Maven car stations around the city, including the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, Mount Vernon, Federal Hill, Station North and others.

Now all you have to worry about are Baltimore drivers…
